Walking into a church you've never been to is its own particular kind of nervous, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Where do I park? What am I supposed to wear? Is somebody going to make me stand up and say my name? Is it going to get weird? If any of that is running through your head about visiting Kingdom House in Concord, let me just take the mystery out of it and walk you through exactly how a Sunday goes, so you can show up already knowing what you're walking into.
We meet Sundays at 10 AM at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord. And yes — a high school. A lot of newer churches meet in schools, and honestly it works in your favor: easy parking, a space you've probably already been in, nothing intimidating about it. When you pull in, look for our signs and our team out front. They'll point you exactly where to go, so you're never that person standing in a lobby not knowing which way to turn.
As for what to wear — whatever you're comfortable in, full stop. Jeans, shorts, a hoodie, a dress; you will not be out of place, and I promise nobody is checking. We care a whole lot more that you're here than what you've got on. "Come as you are" isn't a clever phrase we borrowed because it sounds welcoming. We mean it literally.
Here's how the service itself flows. We open with worship, somebody welcomes you, one of our pastors teaches straight out of the Bible, and we usually close with a chance to pray. The whole thing runs right around 90 minutes. Let me be honest about one part, because it's the question people are usually too polite to ask out loud: we're a Spirit-filled church. During worship, you'll see some folks raise their hands, sing loud, respond to God freely. If that's brand new to you, take a breath — nobody is going to put you on the spot, single you out, or expect you to do a single thing you're not ready to do. You can sit in the back, take it all in, participate as much or as little as you want, and leave whenever you like. There's no pressure, and we are not going to ask you for money.
If you're bringing kids, we've got you covered. There's a safe environment for them that they'll actually enjoy — you'll check them in when you arrive, they'll have a blast in a space built for their age, and only you can pick them up at the end. It means you get to actually be present in the service instead of wrestling a toddler through it. And if you'd rather keep your little ones with you, that's completely fine too.
That's really the whole thing. The hardest part is the first Sunday, and after that it gets a lot easier. We're building a church for the wave of families and young professionals moving into Concord and Cabarrus County who are looking for a place that actually preaches the Bible and actually feels like family — whether you've been in church your entire life or you haven't set foot in one in years.
